Blake, I just finished reading your book, and I felt like I was reading about my 8 1/2 year old son. Your book was such an easy read, and very informative. I have a hard time reading through “textbooks” about ADHD, so I don’t. This may sound bizarre, but I was wondering if your mother has ever considered writing a book about life with an ADHD child. That is where my struggles have always landed. I always wonder how to deal with his impulsiveness (whether to punish or not) and it is very difficult. If you are ever on the East Coast, please let me know, because I would love to hear your story in person.

Blake,
Thank you for a look into your world. My son has ADHD. Sometimes it is hard for my wife and I to figure out what our son is going through. You gave us a little look through your eyes. We thank you for that.
Thank you
Joe

Blake Taylor’s memoir offers – for the first time – a young person’s account of what it is like to live and grow up with ADHD, a common condition that affects four million young people. He also talks about how he has found a way to thrive with the condition.

Blake Taylor is now studying to be a doctor. But when he was little, he was one of those kids who could never seem to settle down. This was back when Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) was just beginning to be recognized and diagnosed. Blake tells Dick Gordon that even on medication, day-to-day living was tough. But his condition also enriched his life in unexpected ways. Blake’s new book is ADHD & Me: What I Learned from Lighting Fires at the Dinner Table.
Blake’s mom, Nadine Taylor-Barnes, joins the discussion.

Hi, Blake,
My son, Timothy, was diagnosed with ADHD in kindergarten. He is now a 6th grader. Every year since kindergarten he has been suspended at least twice (third grade was a record high of 5 times). He is a very impulsive, high octane kid. We’ve enrolled him martial arts to channel some of his aggression and burn some energy. It also provides him with structure and mental training. He has been on a host of medications, starting with Focalin and ending with Vyvanse. He is sweet and fun, but he exhausts and frustrates me because I can’t seem to get him to “use his powers for good” rather than mayhem and destruction! I’d be really interested to know how your parents coped with your unique challenges and helped channel your energies. I often feel at the end of my tether with Timothy and just cringe whenever the phone rings during the school day, knowing that it is yet another phone call about him.

I’ve got Coach Signature Zoe, I adore this particular bag!! That it was last one basic shades in the store. I’ve not noticed it at any other Coach retail store either. I asked the clerks concerning this purse and they declared that this specific handbag is very popular that whenever they get it, it sells out that week!! Nuts! Coach Zoe Purse is produced with Coach Signature material which can be treated for being stain and also waterproof. Trimmed by using platinum leather as well as metallic components. Both sides provides attractive silver buckles, like Carly. Shoulder band offers dogleash end as well as the internal is layered in glowing blue soft material having several pockets.
